week 9 &10
I forgot to do my blog for the past 2 weeks, so.......... In week 9, nothing much extra ordinary things happen. In facts, theres none.. hahaha. Okey, so I'm a bit nervous in week 9, I had to prepare almost all the materials for all forms my mentor teach.I was also busy to prepare the materials for the observation which was in the following week. We had six days holiday for Raya Haji break, and that was the time for final preparation for my observation. The observation will be held on Thursday. So it was quite scary as there were only 2 days before the observation day. On week 10, Tuesday, my mentor absence for that day. I had to handle her class and prepare impromptu lesson, for form 2, form 3 and form 5 students. I had prepare materials for my homeclass-4B. On the next day, I was busy to check all my lesson plan with my mentor, and she had suggestion on how to improve my lesson plan. As for the day of the observation, Everything was ready and I just wait to give my best shot for teaching that day in front of Margaret. Alhamdulillah, everything went fine, I pass the course. this week and next week is the exam and revision week for some students. Despite of being the invigilator, I am focusing on completing my e-port folio.....

Week 8 update
Week 8,
So this is quite a long week. I've been here since Thursday, since there was 2 hours PGG form 3 on Friday. This week form four students will be focusing on social issues, active ageing. First lesson is quite interesting as they were clueless of what is active ageing. I had assigned them with some reading and did the jigsaw activity. After the activity they were enlightened on the issues. I had sequence the issues with their short drama on the second lesson; Qwertyuiop, by asking some linking questions to the students. It was a success as students were able to link between the stories and the issues. Also they had recap on the plot of the short story; the activity was plot 'role play', where groups of students continuously act as the characters based on the story plot. The third lesson continued with me showed the students two videos on volunteering the old folks in Retirement Village. The lesson end with they wrote a continuous essay titled 'Volunteering.' However, to my surprised when I marked their essay, almost all of them thought that volunteering was the deed the old folks do, instead of the what the younger generation should do. I had to explain to them next week. For form two students, as they were getting closer to their checkpoints, I had assigned them with IGCSC papers and discussed it in class on the next lesson. I had also taught grammar class; punctuation. To my surprise they were confused for some of the punctuation usage. For this purpose, I had conducted two lessons for their practices. I had also involved with teaching form five and form three students. Form five students were assigned with continuous essay and also a directed essay. They were eager to know their essay marks when I entered the class. For form three class, my mentor had assigned me to give some grammar exercise for them. The students were able to finish it in a very short time. I had taught all forms that my mentor teach this trimester within this week, its good experience to have a glimpse of what a real teacher should be. If I were forced to take full time of teaching of all the classes, it must be tiring.

Update week 7
This will be the update for week 7 from MRSMBPJ. This week will be the last week before semester holiday break. on Monday, I had taught 2B and 4B. 2B had been assigned for grammar class. It was tough lesson to teach grammar without proper or fun activities. Students end up with doing some exercise in their grammar course book. I was just there to assist them. This happened because I was suddenly assigned to take over the class without any particular preparation. This was a different case with 4B where I had properly planned their lesson beforehand. I thought of doing recap on their literature lesson, The Fruitcake Special. I used jigsaw activity and everything went fine except the fact that I forgot to asked students to bring a copy of their short stories book. Therefore the recap lesson is only based on their previous knowledge on that story. Half of the class also came late to the class, as they mentioned they did not know where the class were. So, to avoid me to nag , they just being forgiven. On Monday, I took no class at all, form 3 and form 5 students were having their examination, so i just prepare for next lesson. On Thuesday, I just taught 4B essay writing, where I had discussed the points with them. What were so disappointing was, I had given them time to finish the essay, to be completed before 8 o Wednesday, but only 10 out 30 students submitted. I had also taught and conducted games activities with form 2B. They found it quite fun to do spelling bee. some students were just amazing, as they knew most of the words given. I had been assigned to take over 4D couple hours before the class start. I had conducted 4/3/2 activity as a trial for Wednesday observation with 4B. It went quite smooth, as the students were behaving without much trouble. To my surprise that was not what happened on Wednesday, when I conducted the same activity with 4B. It was a mess, luckily my mentor had to conduct form 5 PGG programme and forgot to observe me...haha. There were no class on Thursday as the school were having solat hajat for the big examination as well as parents teachers meeting. Looking forward for the holiday yeayyy.

w6
Since Sunday is a Merdeka Celebration Day, there
was no school. The school starts on Monday, where I taught 2B and gave them
some exercises on reading comprehension. The second day went fine as well. I
taught 4B to do some debate on some social issues. Students were amazingly loves
to debate. I noticed that they also love to take charge of some tasks. On
Wednesday, I taught summary for form 4. The students always cooperative, but I
also noticed they don’t like to write summary. I had also tried an activity
called 4/3/2 to form 2 students where students have to talk about a familiar
topic for 4 minutes and they have to stop. They talked again about the same
things for 3 minutes and stop and finally they have to reduce their points as
they were talking only for 2 minutes. The students were excited about this
activity as they were so eager to talk although they have been stopped. I am
eager to try this activity to form 4 students as they were a little bit older
and their attitudes were a little bit different. In the evening we were having PGG for form 4
students. Later that night we were having choir for Merdeka celebration. It was
fun to see all their creativity in singing, drama and also poem. The last day
of the week, I taught 4B and also 4D. I
did the same lesson for 4D (debate). I can see the difference between classes.
My friends and I also helped these teachers to conduct PGG form 2 on Saturday.
I am looking forward for next week lessons and would like to try new activities
to them. That’s all from me for this
entry. Thank you.

Week 5 in MRSMBPJ
Hi, fifth week in MRSMBPJ! Fuh! it's been a month since I first came here. Time flies....not.. Not bad experience at all. This week has an unexpected task and day. Yesterday, Sunday the 24th , I had took 2B class for because Kak Arfah went to UNGA in KL. So I had promised her to take both 2B and 4B classes. The funny part begin here, one of 2B member asked me where the class should be. They were always in the PSP, unfortunately this week form 3 is having their trial, so no students were allowed to use PSP. They went to class, but 4B were there. One student suggestS to have class at the main foyer in front of the office. I felt funny but continue with the lesson there, but one of the teacher had adviced the boys not to damage the plant in the cubicle there, so we had to move to Dewan Selera. We finish our class there quite early. That was my first time experience with students who had no class to learn. Its quite funny and made me felt nervous at the same time. In form 4B, almost all students were sleepy, one student asked me if they can finish chemistry class notes during the lesson. As I made some consideration, I agreed to teach only one lesson and another lesson is their free time. Most of the students were asleep. On Tuesday, at 9 in the morning, my mentor and I had conducted the oral speaking trial for form three students. It ends at almost 1 p.m.. Before we went back, I had my preparation for the next observation. On Wednesday, the first half before recess just involved with lesson preparation. I had my formative assessment at 10.40 a.m. teaching 4B for two periods. They had fun doing running dictation activity. I had also asked them to suggest what they expect in English class with me. I received lots of funny request and as summary I knew they hate boring task which made them feel sleepy. As on the last day of the week, I taught 2B , picture dictation, they seems bored. Maybe I should do something else like games or anything which did not involve with only pen and paper. The class was also being observed by my mentor and I received lots of feedback. I'm going to use different template next time. for now, I'm excited to go back for Merdeka holiday :D. bubye.

week 4
The activity week entry. It was
very busy and hectic week for all students. They were so busy doing all the
activities planned for them. I can still see their tired faces. But I knew they
were having fun. As for me, the first day of the week, I became the audience
for form 2 drama before they went to Baraan (Marhaban) at Kampong Separap. I
had assisted form two Berlian homeroom as their homeroom teacher was absence. They
would go from house to house in the village assisted by one of the villagers.
We ride bus to the village and as we came back, we went to the opening ceremony
of the activity week held at the village centre. The next day, I had become one
of the panels for mock interview with form five students. I had the account stream
students. I realized they have lots to improve especially in English
vocabularies. Me and the other panel En. Fairul was a bit shocked with form
five students’ level of English, they found it quite hard to understand what
had been asked by the interviewer as asked few time for question to be
simplified. Later that night, me and my other friends had become the judges for
‘Malam Kesenian Islam’. On Tuesday, we
had our main activity, remember I told you about the ‘Minion Rush’ we planned
for form one and two students? We had that activity until noon before they
start their mini business as their next activities of the day. At night my
friends and I went to Palestin awareness night called ‘Shoutul Ghazza’, the
school had invited Maulana AF as one of the guest who had been to Ghazza and
give students some inspirational talk. The
next day form one, two and four students had their activity called ‘Sosial
Prihatin’, sort of Explore race involved with outside campus checkpoints. Later
at night, we had the ‘Maktab Eid Celebration’ as well as performances from both
teachers and students. The highlight of the night was the fireworks outside the
main hall as a signal to the end of activity week and celebration for Independence
month. Last day of the week involved
with prize giving ceremony in the morning and motivational talk with Dr. Sheikh
Muzaffar Shukor until noon. The activity week had been tiring for students and
some teachers. Hence, it was really fun to be part of it. This week will involve
with trial exam for form three and five students and normal learning process
for other forms. Looking forward for this upcoming week before Independence day
J. I will update you
more next week. Tata

week 3 in MRSMBPJ
This will be the third week blog
since I first came here to MRSMBPJ. Last week was a relax week since the school
was having monthly test for all forms. The first two days of the week were just
the AB (Academic Buddy) days, where peers help each other in their learning
process. During these two days, I was not much involved with the learning
process but spending my time more in the stuffs room and helping other teachers
with their work. The test started on Tuesday. Early morning, I was assigned by one of the teacher together
with my friend to do the PGG for form five and later I was assigned to look
after a class for their test by my mentor. On Tuesday night, I had experienced
different way of celebrating Eid. In Johor, they were having this tradition
called Baraan (Marhaban) where in one session, there would be around six or
seven houses involved with the celebration. I had never experience this kind of
Eid before. This was a great opportunity to realize that despite I had
experienced cross culture in NZ, there are lots more of culture in my own
country that I have not had chance to experience yet. It was really fun. On
Wednesday, I was once again assigned to look after a test at the main hall. I
took this chance to get to know other teacher who was also assigned to look
after the test. On the last day of the week, I was assigned to help the
students’ culture event exhibition next Friday at UniKL. I was hoping to see
how the exhibition goes. This week will be the activity week, and my friends
and I had helped the teachers to do some activities for form 1 and 2 students.
We planned to do The Amazing Race concept game, but named it as ‘Minion Rush’
as the students were so little and cute. There would be fun staff such as blow
the balloon until it burst and they will find a piece of idiom where they have
to match the given idioms with its meaning. The activities had been approved
and I am so excited to see how it goes this Tuesday. I had also assigned to be
the panel for mock interview for form five students. This is such a good
exposure for me to see how it is done. I am looking forward for that, as we
were given a file contains questions for students as well as a guideline for
the interviewer. That is all about last week. Things went through pretty smooth
for me here without any hassle.

Week 2 practicum
Hi, so this is my second week in MRSMBPJ after 10 days of Raya break. On 4/8/2014, I had observed class 3E. They worked on their ELSA model for their PT3 paper. I had observed that while maintaining to assist my mentor's students in their work, she was also able to maintain her good rapport with her students. On the very same day, i was assigned to teach 4D just 5 minutes before class, without any preparation, I asked my mentor for a little help, and she asked me to do some speech writing. The class did not go well entirely, but manageable. In the end of the day, I've been assigned to take 2B with prepared lesson by my mentor. It was about MH17, I had tried to figure out their thought about the tragedy, it was obvious that form 2 students could not critically comment on a tragedy. It is possibly because limited knowledge and they are not trained enough to think critically compared to upper forms. On the next day, I was focusing on the preparation for observe class on the 6th August until noon. I had also observed my mentor how she conducted her form five class. In the evening, I had chance to see how the teachers conduct their PGG (Program Gerak Gemilang ) with form three students. It was surprised to see some of them were so eager in finishing their work, while some just sleep. With all the preparation prepared for 6th August class, I went to school that morning with bulk of enthusiasm to teach 4B, but it was ruined when my mentor said that I would not be observed in that class, instead she asked to take the form 2B class in the end of the schedule. I discovered that my lesson plan for form 4 class will not work on form 2, so I remade the lesson plan, according to this patriotic month, the Independence Day topic. It was really fun to discovered that I have to improve my control in the class, as well as my time management. I have tendency to pity the students who works slow in discussion group, and I had also discovered that , it was not easy to be a firm teacher with those 14 years old students, while maintaining their respect to you. So the week went on to my observation day and it went smooth with 4B. Amazingly. I still did not receive my feedback from my mentor, so I was hoping she would say something before I teach again next week :D. Thats all for now. Daaaaa

First week summary
This blog is about my daily experience as student teacher in MRSM BP. Supposedly I should post this blog daily, since it was only four days, I decided to sum up my four days experience in one shot. On Sunday afternoon (20/7), I met the principal, my mentor Nur Arfah Jelani and also all the stuffs in the school. I went to school tour before settled in teacher's quarters. The house allocated was really comfy and spacious. Since it was Ramadhan, we (with other two friends who is also students teacher) had chance to have iftar with all students in Dewan Selera. On second day (21/7), all three of us were asked to looked and have chit chat with form 3 students in their quarantine room (Dewan Seri Mahkota) before they take their trial PT3 oral test. We also had meeting John Hope at 10 a.m.. We briefly talked about the assignment and how things going on with us. Shortly after the meeting, we met with Dr. Hamzan (the principal) talked about the expectation, and if we need any assistant on anything don't hesitate to ask, this include any monetary budget needed. Third day of this practicum (22/7) is quite interesting since this was the first time I met my mentor's class 4B (Bergonia) . I was thinking to make this as my first observation, but since they were only made Raya card, I decided not to. My mentor acknowledged my present in the classroom. On that day, I also met with 5E (Vanda), as my mentor's asked me to meet the students without her presents. The students were nice and we had some ice breaking session, their level of proficiency is slightly above average. They were not afraid to talk in English, but shy. Maybe because this the first time we meet. I shared some experience as a NZ student, hoping it will inspire them to study oversea as well. the original idea before entering this class was to make them design Raya card, but they refuse because they had been doing this for the past four years. so decided to play a game. We played truth or dare. Just before we finish the game, there was one boy who teased his classmate till she cried, the other classmates demand him to apologize, and he did, although when i asked that girl, she still did not forgive her classmate. In this class I also knew about the SPMRM, the certificate that allow them to fly oversea before the official SPM result is out. on the very last day before we had our raya holiday, I met with form 2B. They watched Despicable Me with Kak Arfah (my mentor). I also met with 3B and have chit chat with them, since I entered the class 10 minutes before the class end i have not got chance to do ice breaking session with them. Last day (24/7) I had chance to enter 4B class and made them to remade Raya song and they had to sing their remade Raya song in front of the class. The four days experience in MRSM before Raya ended well. Looking forward for classes after Raya.
